Does Performance Vision Care accept new patients?
We gladly accept new patients at both locations. We look forward to assisting you with your eyewear and eyecare needs! We also accept outside doctors’ prescriptions.

Where is Performance Vision Care located?
Our Independence, OH office is located in the Rockside Corners Plaza at the crossroads of Rockside Rd. and Brecksville Rd. ( Rt. 21 ). Our Sandusky, OH office is located on Milan Road (Rt. 250) across the street from the Outback Steakhouse Plaza.
Vision Questions
Am I a good LASIK candidate?
There are many factors to consider when determining your candidacy for laser vision correction. Some factors include; your prescription, prescription stability, best corrected visual acuity, corneal curvature and thickness, pupil size, age, ocular health, and overall general health. The optometrists at Performance Vision Care can evaluate these factors and make recommendations for you as part of your regular comprehensive eye examination.
What is astigmatism?
Astigmatism is a type of refractive error that can affect your vision at both distance and near. Astigmatism is caused by an irregularly shaped cornea and is very common. Astigmatism can be corrected with both glasses and contacts.
Why do I need bifocals?
Most people require bifocal lenses between the ages of 40 and 50 because our lenses lose their elasticity gradually over time. This process is called presbyopia and is independent from nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Presbyopia happens to everyone and is easily corrected with glasses or contacts.
Contact Lens Questions
Can I sleep in my contact lenses?
Extended wear contact lenses are FDA approved for overnight wear up to 30 days. This type of contact is made of silicone which allows approximately 3 X as much oxygen through to the cornea as a regular hydrogel contact lens. Silicone contact lenses can be slept in safely, but there is still a slightly higher risk of complications with the extended wear modality. Colored contact lenses and non- FDA approved lenses should never be slept in!
Can contact lenses correct astigmatism?
Yes, every major contact lens manufacturer has several toric lens designs. Astigmatism correcting contacts (toric lenses) are available in a variety of materials and modalities. Allow the optometrists at PVC to find the perfect contact lenses for you.
Ocular Health Questions
Can hypertension or diabetes affect my eyes?
Yes, both conditions often cause changes to occur inside of the eye. Hemmorhages, retinal deposits, neovascularization, and inflammation can occur if blood pressure and/or blood glucose levels are not controlled. These changes can cause sudden drastic decreases in vision. If you have high blood pressure or diabetes, yearly dilated eye exams should be included with your overall health plan of diet, excercise, medications, and M.D. monitoring.
What are cataracts?
A cataract is an opacification of the lens inside of your eye. There are different types and severities of cataracts, but generally they cause a decrease in vision that can affect your quality of life. Cataracts can be surgically corrected by an opthalmologist.
